"I was on a solo winter backpacking trip in northern Michigan. Having to use the set of Go Claws on the rear of my F150 4x4 due to the 2ft of snow on the hilly, remote logging roads, I was amazed at how these things took on the terrain! A confidence booster for sure. After a week in the bush, another foot of snow mixed with ice accumulated. I made it out of there without a hiccup. Go Claws can provide plenty of fun, white knuckled adventure! Awesome customer service too!"

"Hi Tony. Arrived in Vancouver to find the FedEx package waiting for me. Just would like to say your customer service is superb. If every company I dealt with was as good as yours the world would be a better place! Many thanks again."

Last year, I bought a new Ram 1500 truck and was very disappointed how it slid in the snow even with the back of the truck loaded with 500 lbs of salt behind the rear tires and using 4WD. ?I believe the stock tires that Dodge uses are terrible. ?However, I live in Virginia. ?We either get a lot of snow or none at all, so snow tires didn't seem like a good investment. ?I live on the side of a mountain. ?This winter, after the northeast's snow-mageddon, the plow came through and plowed all but about 6-8" off of my driveway, I drove down my driveway with no problem. ?But when I tried to drive back up, I slid backwards and was stuck. ?Put on my Snow Claws and went right on up the mountain with no problem at all. Not in love with my stock Dodge tires, but I do love my Snow Claws!

"Live in Oregon, do lots of skiing. Bought these a few months ago, super happy. I have AS tires on my rig (great for our wet weather)
but hate swapping out for AT when I go to the mountains. Solution Go claws! I was a little apprehensive at first, but so far they have been awesome."

These Snowclaws are awesome!"

I found that the Snow Claws were well designed and made, Installation was straight forward and with the ratchet feature and the clasp made tightening the Snow Claws very easy.
Their low profile provided great running clearance to the fenders on the garden tractor.
They provide excellent grip in the snow for snow blowing my long driveway.
I would recommend them.
Thanks again for your help,
John

Tony - "Not only is your product top notch but your customer service is excellent!? When I damaged a flextrax link after a hasty install, I reached out to you for assistance on obtaining a replacement.? Not only did you personally take the time to help me determine the type / size of my Flextrax system but you kindly sent me a replacement section / link at no charge.? Lets just say I was shocked when you wouldn't even let me pay for shipping - that level of customer service and product backing is a rare commodity in today's business environment and speaks to your high personal and professional standards.? The replacement section arrived just in time as I received snow the next day and used the Flextrax.? I live high in the mountains of Nevada and Flextrax is essential to my ability to get to work when it snows - and it does in the mountains.? I recommend Flextrax to all my colleagues and neighbors."

"I purchased the SnoClaws and We recently got hit with 30" of snow and when I put on the claws they got me through the worse of a blizzard, and where I had seen 4x4's spin-out and go off the road where as I kept on driving straight not even losing grip of the road or getting stuck in my little Civic. I love the product and have recommended them to numerous friends with jeeps and our work fleet as well as local law enforcement agency. SnoClaws are the way to go and I love how easy they work. Please have your office contact me so I can get some fliers to pass along to friends and local businesses, as many have asked what are those cool looking devices on my car?"

"Your customer service is first rate!"
Thanks, Jeff

We left Mammoth Mtn on Dec 29th drove to Tahoe in a blizzard.
During this short trip I went thru 2 sets of heavy duty chains between going and returning.
I bought these GoClaws because the metal chains damaged the side of my vehicle
and having the chains break on me is the reason I moved to this solution.
I know the GoClaws cost more, but I never have to worry about damage, or getting stuck in snow or mud ever again...
"We really love the product...They are so much better then conventional chains, it's unreal"

Thanks! Trevor Aagard

"Your product is the only reason I made it past the most difficult road conditions I have ever been on!"
"Coming down the mountain from Snow Shoe Mountain Resort, West Virginia. I did not have to put them on until I hit total black ice and snow...2012 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 2WD with a 400lbs+ ballast strapped down over the axle and a 4 adult passengers.
After initial install I did a quick test spin of the tires and the right side came off, so I realized that I did not properly seat the hardware and redid the installation double checking and triple checking all connections. Second test, no problem. Somewhat of a bumpy ride but immediate different level of confidence on the road. Your product is the only reason I made it past the most difficult road conditions I have ever been on! Nonetheless I had a line of cars and trucks follow my treads because the second they veered from them I could see fishtailing and instability.
I am totally sold on your product!"

"No more fears with Flex Trax!"

"Well worth the money!"
"Finally got an opportunity to use our Flex Trax on a Trolley Bus - dual wheels on the rear. Started snowing halfway through a 6 hour gig. Driver stopped and put 'em on. First time using them. Driver said the (positive) difference was immediately noticeable. 6" of new snow in a few hours - didn't faze the Trolley after the Flex Trax units were put on. No more fears with Flex Trax. This will open up opportunities for winter use and winter revenue in the Trolley business... Well worth the money!"

"Incredible traction in snow, sand, and even mud..."
"On a recent trip up to snow-covered Lake Tahoe, California, we drove a 4WD Nissan Armada to 6,000-plus-feet elevation where traction was limited and only vehicles with snow chains were allowed. Rather than fumble with chains, we hopped out and in less than five minutes had the ultimate traction device installed on our 275/60R20 all-season tires. Enter SnoClaws, a high-tech polyurethane alternative to tire chains that incorporates a space-age rubber to wrap around the tires and provide incredible traction in snow, sand, and even mud."

"Flex Trax rubber chains prove to last longer, affix easier, do no damage to vehicles and roads"
Justification : Postal Carriers need an effective, safe and economical way to deliver mail during snow and ice events in our convergent zone, and our City simply does not clear streets. Our inability to deliver without chains has been evidenced in prior years by vehicle collisions, vehicle abandonment, enormous towing fees and deliveries not made. Flex Trax rubber chains prove to last longer, affix easier, do no damage to vehicles and roads and help keep our employees and customers safer by preventing collisions.
They (GoClaws) appear to work best on FFV's.

"I received my flextrax just before the big storms hit New Mexico before Christmas.
We have a very steep road going to our house and I often parked my truck below and hiked up the quarter mile driveway in bad weather.
Well, flextrax arrived, I tried them out and wow, no problem getting up!
Unfortunately one of them broke on the second try. I emailed Tony, and within days they sent me a replacement, free of charge.
Now that is excellent customer service! Thank you so much for that. We are up and running again!
Thanks for such a great product and great customer service!"

FlexTrax:? "Have had your system for a couple years- and they work great.? One access route to our cabin is a steep road with switchbacks.? I often see drivers using cable chains stuck in the road ---or off the road.? When I stop to help, well usually they need to back down, take another run at it, if they’re lucky.? With the Flex Trax I’ve been able to start back on my way, snow or ice, without sliding.? And feeling sorry for those with the very inadequate cable chains- they are not good for hills or re-starting on any incline.? The FlexTrax/ Go Claw’s have no trouble with this."

" I just received my first order of go claws, so far I'm very excited to see how well these appear to be made and how easy the were to install. The set we purchased for the fork truck and are working out nicely."

"Just wanted to let you know that we purchased a set of SnoClaws, and we have found it to be an outstanding item. We manage several large timeshare properties here in Branson MO, and we needed something to allow one of our small 2wd trucks to get around in the snow. We wanted an alternative to traditional steel chains, since they can damage road and parking lot surfaces (we are very protective of our properties, everything must be 5 star!). We have used the SnoClaws in the last few snowstorms, (one of which was 10 inches in one day) and they have done a superb job getting us around to deliver equipment and ice melt in a timely manner. They are light and easy to handle, and I like the fact that they can be taken apart for repairs if they are ever needed. Thanks again for making a great product!"

"Great news:? the goClaws are installed and just shy of
awesome!? those rubber pads have amazing "stick" on
the polished ice here in Steamboat.

This set of goClaws are on an antique john deere skid
steer that is used to clear snow.? the top speed of this
machine is about 4mph.? the normal in-use speed is
only about 1mph.

I'll leave the goClaws on until May.? the rubber pads are
supper nice because this machine is stored in a garage.
Studs or chains could damage the floor and/or the brick
paved driveway which is the focus of the snow removal.

I might buy another pair for the other two tires."

Snow, Mud, Sand Chains. A Better Idea!
Professional Review: Go Claws

Bird hunter's thoughts
"...they grip like a tick on your best bird dog!"
"

They are a special type of polymer.
Tough as nails and legal everywhere.

That's a bunch of gripping action!
It's a common problem when hunting out west, or even here in GA on the red clay back roads we have. Out west, many times, the roads will be frozen heading in to the back country, and will thaw during the day, making getting out somewhat problematic. In the south, even a slight rain turns the red clay roads into a form of slick snot. I don't care how many wheel drive you have, you ain't going anywhere. ?Tires are a factor, but I like to have some form of chain to put on my wheels, in the event I need to get somewhere, like bed and a hot meal. I've used actual chains when getting stuck on some North ?Dakota roads, and it was a pain, and muddy. ?But, eventually, they worked and I got myself unstuck and on the way. Twice in my hunting career, I've relied on the largess of a local farmer to pull me out with a tractor. (Both times those tractors were so big, they could have pulled the dark out of the night, I think.).
I knew there had to be a better way. Go Claws. (http://www.flextrax.com/). Google searching produced this interesting little article. I followed up with a call to the company and the owner, designer picked up. Nice guy! ?I ordered a set, then another set. I figure, if I put one of these on each wheel, I'll be able to go anywhere, anytime.
They are incredibly easy to put on. Literally, after you do it once, it will take less than 5 minutes per tire, more like a minute. You can drive with them on bare road for many miles and not damage the tires or the road. And they grip like a tick on your best bird dog!
Recommendation: ?go to the website and watch the videos. My recommendation is a buy. I have a set for each tire and it gives me great piece of mind while on a trip and seeing storm roll up the valley. "Bring it!" I think. "At least I'll make it back to the motel. "

"Worked Brilliantly and were very easy and quick to put on!"
"I just wanted to write to say thank you so much for sending the snoclaws all the way to me in NZ, they arrived quickly as you said they would, and we used them on the weekend to get our van out of the skifield carpark where there was alot of snow on the ground and an uphill slope. They worked brilliantly and were very easy and quick to put on even in the cold. I am glad that we now feel alot safer and more confident getting up and down from the skifields in NZ."

GoClaws delivered!
..."It was a tossup whether we we’re more impressed or just grateful that they had worked so well."
Thanks for thinking Tony
"We live at about 9K feet, west of Colorado Springs, CO. A couple of years ago I was on-line, researching alternatives to chains for my 35x12.5x15. Decided on, and purchased two sets of the GoClaws.

Its January now and we’ve have several moderate snow falls. Over the weekend I took my oldest daughter on what was supposed to be a brief, uneventfully 4 wheel drive outing. We went on a familiar moderate trail not far from where I live. I was surprised at how much snow was still on the ground in areas, it was the wet, heavy kind of snow that fills the lugs on your tires and renders them almost useless. We hadn’t gone far before we got stuck. I was able to shovel enough snow, to retreat. Undaunted, we went around that obstacle and continued on. Soon we decided that there was enough snow in areas to take a short loop back and head for home.

That when we got stuck a second time. The difference being, there was no way to dig out. In front of us was about 100 yards of incline trail. The left wheels were in about 8 to 10 inches of wet snow and the right side was in about a foot and a half. Shoveling it would have meant a stroke.

?I have carried my GoClaws in the truck every winter; this would be the first time I needed to use them. I had practiced the installation when I first got them on dry, flat ground – it went just like the video.
But now I had to first dig out each wheel to correctly install the GoClaws. Back in the truck my daughter and I look at each other, we both knew this is our only chance to get out.
?In low gear, we give it the gas, and all four tires were moving forward. The GoClaws were digging in, and they don’t stop digging until we had traversed the snow field. At that point it was a tossup whether we we’re more impressed or just grateful that they had worked so well.

Tire chains would have failed us, that’s why I purchased the GoClaws. Anticipating that some day, I would need something more aggressive to help get me out, and the GoClaws delivered!

Got to love it when a plan comes together."

Thanks for thinking Tony

Brent Nafus

I worked at Les Schwab for years, and can't count the number of people who came back with busted up chains, asking for refunds, because they threw on chains where it was neither necessary nor helpful. A couple times chains wrapped around an axle causing real damage when they snapped.
This tire chain product is excellently designed and constructed. I have a friend who uses them on his ATV and they work great!
I ordered a pair for my minivan, but unfortunately, the wheel well didn't have enough clearance and the struts inpeded the free movement of the tires with the goclaws on.
So, check carefully to make sure that your vehicle has sufficient clearance in the wheel well to accomodate this product.

Mad Genius reviews
This is an excellent product. Traction is great, and once one gets the hang of it, the installation and removal are a very simple and easy. The only down side are the instructions which are a little hard to follow. I strongly recommend that you practice the installation in your garage or in your driveway and in the daylight, before you have to put them on in deep snow without much light, like we tried the first time! SnowClaws in deep snow
I just came from a two track in Northern Michigan. 15" of fresh snow on top of 12" hard pack. We were 1.5 miles in. Coming out, I got stuck 3 times within 30 yrds. Used a winch to get out. After the third time I put the SnowClaws on and drove out. Slow, with some vehicle shaking, but DROVE out! I agree, little tough to put on. Practice before you need them. TODAY, they were PRICELESS!

A few things. I have been driving front wheel drive cars, 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive cars and trucks for the last 30 years. Are 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles better in the snow? Yes. Is it a big difference? Yes! Those who say there isn't a difference or it is very minor have either never driven such a vehicle before in REAL snow, or they are intentionally knocking them for some unknown reason. They will get you going safer driving straight, and are also better around corners.. period! There is simply no comparison between the two, and simple logic would explain why. I live in northern Canada where we get snow, sometimes very heavy snow for the majority of the year. 80% of the vehicles here are either 4x4 or all wheel drive. Even the police here use all wheel drive SUVs almost exclusively, and they wouldn't do so if there was only a minor difference. The only people here who drive 2 wheel drive cars are those that don't have to travel far or don't travel during heavy snow. But.. with that said, 4 wheel drive WILL NOT help you stop any faster. All cars have 4 wheel braking and caution must always be used to come to a safe stop. If you are unable to get a 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle, your next best choice is a front wheel drive with good snow tires. If you drive a lot in deep snow I would recommend a new product called SnoClaws. http://www.flextrax.com/?r=snoclaws They are a type of tire chain, except they are made of rubber so they are legal everywhere. You can put them on your tires in about 5 minutes and take them off in seconds when you don't need them. Hope this helps, jakeblues

? “I currently live in Seattle, so snow isn’t usually present unless you go to the mountains. I first got introduced to the flex trax from a buddy who loved them… Absolutely awesome! He had them on a Toyota, pushed through deep mountain powder, and ran through mud holes. At the time I had 31x10.5r15, and they worked great! I used them coming over mountains passes, with little off-road use, the truck wasn’t setup like it is now. Later I went to 35x12.5r15 and I had sized the snoclaws for the 31's, so I got in touch with your company to get replacement links. I really enjoy being able to put them on without moving the vehicle, especially if you're stuck. They have a much warmer feel than frozen steel that’s for sure! I try to turn guys onto them all the time. Whenever I use them they are always a few guys who ask me about them. “

Thanks again,

This is to let you know that I purchased a set of the Go Claws online and they worked very well!

The week before we had them, I tried to drive my 2004 Chevy Express 15 Passenger Van with rear wheel drive, and big winter studed tires up a mile long snowy mountain to get to Miracle Mountain Ranch.? As?we started up the first incline we came to a spinning stop, so?I had to back down and park in the winter parking lot.

The hill is?curvy and extremely steep in some places.? They have a winter parking lot at the foot of the hill because because only 4WD vehicles can travel it safely during the winter.

The next week came and we were ready to try the hill again, this time we had the GoClaws on the rear tires.? We drove the van right up the mountain with traction to spare.? Now we have been elected to be a shuttle van for others who must park at the bottom.
You should have heard the kids cheering with pride as we made it to the top of the hill, my oldest daughter was scared to death for us to try and drive up this hill, but when she saw we made it with no problems, she was smiling from ear to ear.
We also live on a 2.5 mile long hill and sometimes that road can get extremely dangerous if a nasty snow storm hits during the weekend when they don't plow it.? We thought long and hard about getting a $9,000 + ?four Wheel drive unit installed on the van by Quigley Motor Co.

But it appears now that we only had to spend $159 and we now have a RWD 15 Passenger Van that will go anywhere in the winter, thanks to the GoClaws.
Thanks,
Steve Goettler

I purchased my GoClaws and my intentions were to use two sets (4 GoClaws) on my '87 Jeep Wrangler (photo attached) for snowplowing.
I watched the online video that demonstrated the installation, and reviewed the instructions that accompanied the product.
Although the installation wasn't as easy as demonstrated on the video, I had all four of mine on in about 30 minutes.
The GoClaws performed beyond my expectations! I plow two, or three driveways that consist of crushed stone, 200 - 800 feet long, all with steep inclines.
After a few uses, the GoClaws loosened slightly, but were easily tightened up with the tool provided. They haven't slipped or loosened since.
I'm nearing the end of my second snowplowing season using GoClaws and would highly recommend them to anyone considering chains. When the season ends, I hose my off, allow them to air-dry, separate the sections, fold them up, and store them in the bags provided. They are extremely convenient.
Thank you for a great product. I really got my money's worth.
Very Cordially,
Robert Smutek

Grip was impressive, as we were able to drive through any snow-packed roads, and unlike off-road mud tires, the diamond-tread pattern on the SnoClaws didn’t get clogged up with snow. A must for anyone needing more traction in the snow, down a washed-out back road, or even in the desert with loose sand, the SnoClaws are a great tool for keeping you moving.

To whom It May Concern, My wife bought me a pair of Go Claws for Christmas for my H2 Hummer. (I have been asking for them for a year..) I attempted to use them in Wisconsin during a snowmobile outing, but they proved to be too difficult to install out in the woods during a large snowfall. I again received my chance during our most recent Chicago snowstorm of over 24 inches!!! This time I installed them in my heated garage, and BOY! DO THEY WORK!!! I was the only one out on the roads and ended up pulling 3 people out of ditches without ever getting stuck myself! The only problem is my 4 year old son lost the large leverage tool. Is there any way I can get another one so I can practice getting them on to use them again. I plan on another snowmobile trip in 12 days. Thanks for a great product, Tom McKenna
Hello Tom, We have many clients buying these for a unique present to loved ones and I'm glad you appreciate our technology. They are very different from tire chains, so we suggest that the user practice installation prior to actual use. Once you become familiar, you should have no problem installing in approx 2-3 minutes per tire. Appreciate your interest and a new tool is on its way to you as we speak. Thank you, Tony

TTORA REVIEW...so i tried these things out this weekend, and i give them a they don't do miracles but they did provide some help.

scenario was steep rock-hill climb while raining with some mud, locked 2wd, go-claws on both rears. without it there was apparent slipping while crawling, with claws on, increased traction and much less slippage. ran with them on at a faster pace without issue. one of them did come off during a run, which i think was a rock hitting the buckle that released it.

pros - very noticable increase in traction in slippery scenario
cons - kind of a pain to put on (5-mins), especially if everything is muddy to begin with. they also tend to creep towards the center of the wheel if you don't properly tighten the back a lot. remedy is loosely strap all of them together, then tighten the back all the way to their limits, then tighten (ratchet) front.

I bought Flex Trax for my LR3 about a month ago, and I had the opportunity to try it last weekend.

I have to say that they performed quite well. Rather excellent actually. I was pretty invincible. I did not, however, do the same area without them, I am only comparing to how I have done in the past in similar looking mud puddles. With the trax on, I just powered right through.
The Land Rover guy that was there was very enthusiastic about them. I was telling him of my concerns, but he told me that he thought they would be ok, and even if they came apart that they wouldn't damage anything on the LR3 (the air suspension is inside a canister). The Land Rover guy was in front of me in a Range Rover, and he described some of the mud as "pretty slimy." With the trax, I didn't even notice that. Everyone was very impressed.
The tracks that I left behind the vehicle were impressive. It makes it seem as if these things just have to work. I even drove to lunch 2 miles on the pavement. (I couldn't see taking the time to take them off, then put them back on again). At 15 mph, they rode ok, anything more shook the vehicle too much for me to stand. The off road ride was fine, however. Not a deterrent at all. They held up just fine on the highway.
I am trying these things because the LR3 has no off-road tire solution.
I have posted the success of these things on some of the Land Rover forums. I bet many will be interested especially if we can work out some of the bugs. Also, I was thinking that it might be good to have some clips to secure the connections through holes that mated up so that I would feel more "secure" with those things on there.
Thanks!

Hello Fellow Vanagon Pilots!
I am a new member to the Syncro list and I joined because I love these vehicles and hope to find a Syncro Westy at some point in the future. I just sold my 1986 Syncro (people mover) with factory front and rear diff locks. I also own (2) 1972 Westies, 2001 Eurovan MV, and my 1987 Vanagon Westy. The message below I sent to the Vanagon list but I thought many of you might find these GoClaws interesting for off road and snow purposes.

Let me start by saying I do not work for GoClaws and they are not paying me for these comments. I am just so impressed with the engineering of this product that I had to give everyone a report. GoClaws is an alternative to conventional tire chains. I like things that are unique and well engineered. This is why I like Vanagon Westfalia Campers. GoClaws is without a doubt a unique and well engineered product.

There was some discussion on the list a while back about tire chains. This started me on my quest to find the perfect tire chain for my Vanagon. One day I stumbled upon GoClaws and I posted them to the Vanagon list for everyone to see. They seemed very intriguing so I ordered a set.
I figured if they sucked I would try to send them back.

I just got my set of GoClaws today and could not wait to try them out. We have been receiving lots of snow this week. Our ground in Western Michigan is covered by 10-14 inches of fresh, wet, heavy snow. Under the snow is a thick layer of ice because we started out the week with an ice storm. I have a 2WD Vanagon Westy that is absolutely terrible in the snow with its Michelin Agilis tires and standard 2WD transmission. But when I put the GoClaws on the rear tires today I blazed through fresh snow that was 10-14 inches deep. I even busted through a snow drift that was close to 2 feet deep. I took off down a two track trail that had not been driven on yet making new tracks and the van just ripped through it like an animal. For a fleeting moment I thought I was driving a Syncro. I was in the height of my glory when I got stuck going up a small grade. The snow was around 14-16 inches deep and had drifted in a low spot at the base of the small hill. My first thought was my wife was going to kill me. She was already laughing at me because she knew I was about to go do something stupid. But I was able to rock the van back and forth about 4 or 5 times, each time going farther up the hill until I made it out.

My drive way is another good test because it is a steep sheet of ice. I could drive up the driveway and stop half way, and start out again without loosing traction. I was
also able to back up the driveway slowly without loosing traction.

My Vanagon has factory alloys on it so one thing that was important to me when I was researching tire chains was to find a solution that would not scratch the alloys. And these being rubber don't tear up the wheels.

I love these things and can't wait to try them out on mud and sand. When I get a chance this summer to use them off road, I will give another report to let everyone know how they worked.

I can't wait to go four wheeling again! (ok. two wheeling with style)

Wishing you many miles of smiles!

Hello

Let's see, the issue is that land is a little snow (Valencia), so I have only tested in this test and an earlier more "caserillo" yet and the two mud ..... the truth is I have not had a chance to put them in a more extreme situation so I think that if someone has them north, may provide more data than me ....
My choice was the Goclaws after analyzing "theoretical level" options available and made me opt for them, the issue of mud and we'll get stuck with the vehicle and ...... I hit the first post that I put in the thread of the MP (before you pasted Ooznak) to give you an idea ......

Marching the subject of the chains.
After a month with the MP and facing veranito occurred to me that the chains could wait until next winter ....? a couple of silly warnings with mud and made it clear that I be prepared for traffic jams is essential to travel with the van through the countryside and even to places as Gili .... land as a car park on a rainy day or a patch of grass at a campsite.
After all I read I understand that the systems of "chains" to consider are those that I quote below.

(I've ruled out MS winter tires because I think traffic jams are not intended to sporadic snow / mud, but for people who live or go so assiduously to the mountains in winter. I have not "seen" the price because if the vehicle is new is ridiculous bargain made for 200 euros and it is classic, the issue of getting stuck in the middle of nowhere is serious enough to gamble with chains of Carrefour)

CHAINS "LIQUID"
It is a foam spray that is applied to the wheels and helps us to immediately retrieve the adherence on snow or ice, its use should be reduced to specific emergencies, since prolonged use shortens the life hard and tire .
?????takes up minimal space in the trunk.
?????is cheap.
?????its implementation is extremely simple.
?????quite effective and immediate results.
???- Should only be used sporadically.
???- Shortens tire life.
???- Their use is helpful but not the result is not as good as the chains.

CHAIN LINK:
?????are best for snow, ice and mud.
?????have the best price.
?????are the most resistant.
???- Are the largest cost of making and, above all, to remove.
* Choosing the diamond on the 'ladder' (horizontal channels) because there are always strings them treading the ground and break less.
* For choosing the type camper 4x4 (12 mm thick at least) to prevent breakage by weight.
* Choose which have automatic tensioners (the normal force us to retighten chains stop every few minutes).
* It must carry on two-wheel drive (Marco Polo: the rear).
* In special cases may also be necessary to keep the front direction.

CHAINS OF FABRIC:
The new fabric covers (such AutoSock) work well in snow as long as they do not touch the asphalt (they spoil quickly).
?????are lighter to transport
?????become very quickly
?????very good grip if there is snow under
???- Break very easy on the asphalt stages
???- May not be suitable for heavy vehicles (vans)

CHAIN TYPE "Octopus" (Spider)
?????easier installation of all.
?????good grip.
?????take up little space in the trunk (demountable).
???- Are the most expensive of all.
???- Must be put before you leave home a disk adapter that will always
?????mounted.

TRAK or Centrax CHAINS
They differ only in that the need to carry an adapter Centrax caught a wheel screw and Trak no (are caught like a screw, but without an adapter).
?????get pretty easily.
?????not need to move the vehicle (just put "single" to start
????????walk.)
?????very good grip on snow and ice.
?????tensioning and self-centered is on the march.
???- Its price.

GOCLAWS CHAINS
?????no metal parts.
?????you can roll them in stretches of asphalt.
?????placed fairly quickly.
?????no need to move the vehicle to them.
?????be set with the vehicle and stuck.
?????work the same with snow with clay.
?????does not damage the rubber on the tires.
???- Expensive.
???- The "string" does not touch the ground continuously.

The latter is my choice, the "chains" Goclaws.
And while the experience (self or others) do not tell me otherwise I think the theoretical level are those with more advantages.
Serve both to mud to snow, they become (and removed) without too much difficulty, do not damage the tire or tires, and have as strengths that can be put in the car and stuck and that can be left in place on roads or roads with "obstacles" intermittent.

And this is my experience this weekend:
The first thing to say that Snoclaws require a setting before them the first time of cutting off the straps to fit our wheel (which takes a little while measurement and testing) and mark with pen interior straps.
Once set you have to practice a bit different to lower installation times.
It is advisable to wear the kit in the trunk consisting of:
- Chains
- Gloves not get our hands dirty, or frozen (in the case that the reason for the jam is snow).
- Raincoat fine, not to soil the sleeves while we not get wet if it rains / snows.
- Pad or something like that (mud / snow, knee down ..... come on, which I believe is recommended).

I did the test only a small piece full of mud, in coastal and saving a small step ..... not that it is a full-scale test, but to start I have found good results ..... when caught by a more decent mud and I will tell you (I said no Trialeras mud)

because that is what I can contribute ... :)

a greeting, josejuan

Auto Socks Reviews

Not legal in Calif when chains are required. thought it might work well but returned it before using it. Jeff

Very disappointing. We live in Atlanta and are experiencing a severe winter storm. We were waiting for this moment to get us up our hilly driveway to go to work by using the AutoSocks. Had no problem putting on, less than 5 minutes. Other posts indicated that AutoSocks got their cars up their hilly driveway, which sold us to purchase. We got halfway up our driveway and couldn't move any farther and kept spinning our back tires. What a disappointment, especially since all the videos show different makes of cars easily going up hills. I gave it two stars, maybe they work better on level ground. Would not recommend. Sophie

These fell apart on me wrapping canvas and mesh around my wheel bearings, axle, and brakes! The end result of trying to protect my wheels/tires ended up costing me a fortune! The traction was just ok but the fact that they shredded into pieces makes me urge you, DO NOT BUY!!!! Chris R.

Neat idea, didn't work well for me in the real world.,
This review is from: AutoSock HP 735 Winter Traction Aid, For High Performance Tires

"My experience was that the Autosocks were very difficult to install. I'm sure it would have been easier to install them if my car had more clearance between the tire and the fender, but if that were the case I could have just used traditional chains anyway. I had to move my car probably 5-10 times as I scooted the autosock into place inch by inch before they were fully seated. This was about a 20 minute process, all of which was cold and filthy (in retrospect, I should have used my jack to lift the car to make installation easier). Then, although they did work well traction-wise, they did not stay in place well. They very quickly started to fall off, even though I bought the size that supposedly fits my tires... I had to limit my speed to 20 mph in order to not have them fly off my wheels.

Bottom line, they got me home through a 25 mile city commute, so I'm glad I had them, but they were a huge pain in the ass to use. I had to stop my car about 5 times on the way home to readjust the autosocks so they wouldn't fall off. Their claim that they center themselves on the tire automatically was not true for me... Also, after 25 miles of city driving, with some streets plowed and some not, they are pretty torn up. I'd say these are pretty close to a single-use product unless you are in a rare situation where they are driving only on clean fresh snow (never the case in the city). They are so filthy after the one use that I don't really want to keep them anyway.

Maybe you'll have a better experience than me if you get a better fit somehow? Who knows... As I said, mine were *supposed* to fit, and stay in place, but they didn't." Alex

No Need to get Down on the Ground to Install Flex-Trax !

Install Flex-Trax Even When Stuck!

Install Flex-Trax Even When Stuck!
You should not expect a ridgidly affixed metal tire chain to remain mounted to your tire with temperature fluctuations and dynamic loads imposed. Chains and cables are not resilient, will not flex with the applied loads, and cannot rebound to their original shape or mounting configuration once they are exposed to the inherent characteristics and dynamic loads of a tire.

Common problem of having no way to install your traction system without jacking or moving the vehicle. Flex-Trax eliminates this very tedious requirement and can be easily installed even if stuck!

No need to get down on the ground to install, so you won't even get muddy if you wear gloves. Take them off when your done and place into the convenient storage bag, and your vehicle won't get dirty either!

Ski Loge Operator says "Traction to Spare"

I am a qualified instructor and specialize in training drivers to drive safely in all off-road conditions. The following is a report of my findings following a day of trailing the GoClaws. This trailing was carried out with Paul Treverton and Ed Dwyer. ROCKS ON STEEP HILL CLIMB WITH MUD, CLAY, SHALE AND ROCK LEDGES. Racking the steering, the GoClaws climbed over the tyre wall onto the centre of the tread (the grey joining strap). The GoClaws did not self-centre under this application. This is an extreme condition but, if you want the best product, you need to test it under these conditions. VERY STEEP ASCENTS AND DESCENTS COVERED WITH SLIPPERY CLAY, DEEP RUTS, SHALE AND FIVE FOOT WASH OVERS. The GoClaws performed very well in this condition. The sharp square edges of the GoClaws increased the pound per square inch on the slippery surface giving it very good traction to continue to drive. DEEP CLAY MUD We backed into a mud hole and stopped. We let the vehicle settle into the mud, and then drove out without any wheel spin. The GoClaws performed brilliantly five to six times. By this time the mud was extra loose. If the GoClaws had not been fitted, traction would have been lost after the drive in... let alone on the sixth try. After we drove out, there was no problem slipping on the tyres by the pads of the GoClaws. Steve McWiggan Sure-Trac Off-Road Driving Training Victoria, Australia

Well worth the money!" John Allin / Founder of SIMA (Snow & Ice Management Association)
